We have organized some local service opportunities into a number of categories. Each of these areas weave together to form the tapestry of our community and culture. Within the sections there is a listing of different organizations, opportunities, and ideas for how you can get informed, pray, and serve.
A helpful way to use this resource is to pick an area that you have some interest or background. For example, you may decide that education is an area you want to get involved, or at least get more informed. Click on the education link and you will see a listing of some of the needs in our community in the area of education. Each of these needs is organized into three phases; Listen, Pray, Act. Simply put, these three areas will tell you what the specific need is (Listen), some specific ways you can pray for them (Pray), and some practical ways you can get involved (Act).
After you spend some time clicking through the opportunities that currently exist our encouragement is to pick an area and really pray. Ask God where He would have you serve. Think about what gifts you have, or an area that you really seem to have a heart for. And then Act. Just take the first step, whatever that ends up being, and get involved. If it ends up not being the right area you’ll know pretty quickly. If that happens just click around some more and pray about another area.
We know that it isn’t easy to get involved and we hope this resource makes it just a little easier to know what the needs are. We recognize that it takes time and sacrifice to actually get out there and serve. Know that God is going with you, and in so many ways is already in those places that we are called to go.
